ABOUT

Simon Wehrli (Switzerland/Slovenia) started as a musician, attended the Accademia Teatro Dimitri in Verscio (CH) and studied contemporary dance with Trinity Laban London (UK). Simon toured Europe, the USA, and Africa as part of the theatre group Collettivo Spettatori, the dance improvisation group 50collective, and "Sons of Sissy"/Simon Mayer. As a dancer, actor, and musician, he has worked with choreographers in London, New York, Brussels, Porto, Zurich, Basel, and Vienna among other places. From 2010 to 2015, he participated in various projects by David Zambrano (including "50 days of flying low and passing through Costa Rica"). In 2013, his first full-length production, "Greatest Hits", a co-production with Tanzhaus Zürich, premiered, followed by the site-specific performance "How to become Clairvoyant". From 2015 onwards, further pieces followed in collaboration with Jasmina Križaj ("False Entries", "Nature Poetry", "Nothing Works (Shakira, Shakira)", "D PRPL"). In recent years, he has increasingly developed pieces with young people (including at the Zurich Opera House). Simon is also a guest lecturer in the Bachelor of Dance at La Manufacture Lausanne (CH) and teaches regularly at other institutions.
